Protein fudgecicles Popsicles Recipe for Summertime

With summer temperatures plaguing the New Jersey area, we are all looking for cold treats like ice pops or ice cream. Sadly most ice pops that I had growing up as a child are filled with lots of ingredients I wouldn’t want to eat now. The problem with that is many of them are using GMO’s and high fructose corn syrups and have not even 1 gram of protein in them. For someone who aims to eat 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day to meet my macros, that just wasn’t going to cut it. Then I decided to try turning a protein powder into an icepop. That didn’t really taste that great considering it didn’t have much of a thick texture that was needed to really freeze the pop and make it more creamy like an ice cream and less like an ice pop. Then I had a thought, what if I took a protein pudding and just froze it? That is where I created the idea of making a protein fudge pop!

I used a classic ice pop mold like the one I found at my local Marshalls made by Zoku. They make lots of really cute molds and other kitchen items and most are under $10. Ice pop molds are great for making these but also frozen yogurt and fruit pops too which I plan to try soon.  _MG_0516To make these I use two packets of each flavor: Vanilla & Chocolate and then mix with some water. You want the mix to be not too thick but not too thin either. I put them both in an empty nutribullet container and then blended them. _MG_0520After you blend them just add to the ice pop molds. Don’t fill them up all the way or else they may be hard to open up when they freeze. Put them in the freezer overnight to harden.  _MG_0530 _MG_0535 Once they are all done it’s time to enjoy! To soften them out the molds under some running warm water and jiggle the handles. The pop will loosen and then you can lick away. They taste super creamy like a real fudge pop but loaded with protein and almost no carbs!  _MG_0541
