All You Need To Know About Natural Weight Loss Supplements

Weight loss can sometimes seem like a challenging and daunting journey. There are many weight loss supplements which claim to make this an easier task, but these must be treated with caution. They can claim to help in different ways; some increase your body’s fat-burning, some reduce your absorption of fat, and some reduce your appetite.

Here are a few of the most popular weight-loss supplements derived from natural sources:

Natural Raspberry Ketone

Raspberry ketone is the chemical in red raspberries that creates them their smell. Some research shows that raspberry ketone can increase some the levels of some people’s metabolism. It has also been claimed that the raspberry ketone can affect a hormone called Adiponectin. This can increase the rate at which the body burns fat and reduce appetite.

Green Coffee Extract

Green coffee extract is a very popular weight loss supplement. It contains a substance called chlorogenic acid, which is believed to cause the weight loss effects. Coffee beans are naturally green, and turn dark brown when they’re roasted. While they’re known to contain lots of antioxidants, they lose most of the chlorogenic acid during roasting. Studies suggest that this acid can reduce carbohydrate absorption in the digestive tract. This will lower insulin spikes and blood sugar levels.

Glucomannan

Glucomannan is the fibre from the roots of a plant called a konjack (or Elephant Yam). These plants are mainly found in tropical eastern Asia and are known for being cooked and consumed in Japan as yam cakes. These tablets were made very popular by a TV guru called Dr Oz who raved about their benefits. When you take a Glucomannan tablet shortly before a meal, it makes you feel full and means you consume less food and calories by absorbing water in your gut, and turning into a gel-like substance.

Caffeine

Most weight loss supplements contain it in some measure at it is a well-known metabolism booster. Caffeine is the most commonly consumed psychoactive substance in the world and has been used by humankind for centuries. However, caffeine can become very addictive. And you can easily build up a tolerance to its effects. Too much caffeine can cause insomnia, nervousness, stomach irritation and nausea.

African Mango

Irvingia Gabonensis is a tree which grows fruit similar to a mango and is found in Central and West Africa. The african mango seed is removed and dried from these fruits and is available as a powder, liquid or capsule. There are claims that these supplements can lower appetite, lower blood cholesterol, and reduce fat cell growth if taken 30-60 minutes before a meal. There are also claims that they are highly effective at getting rid of fat and cholesterol already in the body.
It’s important to remember, that healthy eating and regular exercise is vital in order to live a healthy lifestyle. While some of these supplements may help to speed up the process, you still need to put in the time and effort. And always check with your doctor if there is anything you’re not sure about.
