With a new chapter in my life comes a new update to our home….get ready for the fun to begin as I share with my readers and followers the adventures of adding to my newlywed home before and after our wedding!

I am very excited to announce that over the next few months I will be blogging about a great partnership I am doing with the furniture store Raymour & Flanigan. In June me and my fiance John will become husband and wife (I cannot wait for our wedding on June 6th!), and that means lots of great things for us and our home. Planning our wedding has been very hectic, but we cannot wait for the big event, and a lot of my time in the last few months has been dedicated to wedding stuff, but what I am really excited to do is work on making our home really amazing for us. We moved into a beautiful new place back in August and have been investing a lot of time, energy and money into turning it into a space we both love. We both work full-time jobs and between me and my blog work, freelance work and my fiance also doing some extra free-lance work for his job, we have had NO time to do much to our place other than when we first moved in.

When we signed all of our paperwork we decided that we were going to start fresh in our new place; that meant putting all of our old furniture into storage and going to pick out new items. For us having a home that we can come home to and enjoy spending time in was so important. It had to showcase both of our styles and personality. It also had to feel warm, cozy and inviting. We like to have friends over to watch football games and movies, so we needed space to entertain. We are also a fun, laid back couple, so we didn’t want furniture or decor that was too formal or fancy. It’s important that your home expresses who you are and creates a feeling of comfort and ease. When we were ready to move in we wanted to start with a clean slate. I had been tweeting about my great experience from the day my furniture arrived which was back in August when we moved into our new place. The delivery went smoothly, the drivers arrived on time, overall it was painless and easy!

Here is a view of my current living room:

We decided to go to Raymour & Flanigan for a few reasons:

1. they had a really great no APR for 3 year finance program which we wanted to take advantage of

2. their furniture is great quality and has a warranty package that you can purchase

3. we had previously bought our couches from Raymour & Flanigan years ago so we knew the selection was our taste

4. we never had an issue with back orders or delivery times

5. the staff in the store was always really helpful, without being pushy “sales guys”

So when we moved into our new place we went in and ordered a bedroom set (you can see a quick post of that here), a sectional couch, a coffee table and a home office desk. Almost all of our “major” furniture was purchased during that one trip and we had it delivered the weekend we got our keys. It was such a nice feeling to get everything brand new and then build around the staple pieces. Everything went smoothly with our purchase from the day we went in to look, to the service with our sales associate in the Fairfield, New Jersey store, to the delivery and set up.

We have a 2 bedroom 2 full bath apartment so we decided to use one bedroom as a home office and one is the master bedroom (a similar unit to mine is below)

Fast forward to today….

I am excited to be an official Raymour & Flanigan Blogger! With their team’s help I am going to be able to turn my current home into our dream Newlywed Pad by sharing with you step by step how we envision making over our 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment. As an #RFbloggers ambassador I will be a guest pinner on the Raymour & Flanigan Pinterest page with my very own board that you can follow as I give lots of home updating and decorating inspiration. (CLICK HERE TO VIEW MY GUEST PINNER BOARD)

rfI will update this blog post to show you a few “BEFORE” photos as I get ready to head to the store and pick out a few new items to deck out our newlywed pad. I’ll take you with me on my trip to the store and walk you through my decorating process of what I choose to add to my home and why. I will also be doing a bit of an overhaul of my color palettes as well. My home is modern and comfortable, chic and trendy. A lot of darker colors (most of my furniture currently is grey and black), but finding ways to lighten it up a bit with other accents, pillows, throws etc. So I invite you to stay tuned as I share my #RFbloggers experience with you, share some tips, ideas, photos, videos and more!
