Spring is here and my hair went bye-bye! I recently shared that I chopped off my hair heading into the warmer weather and I have to admit I am so glad I did it. Why did I cut my hair off? Well as many of us ladies who work out know – having to wash it every single day because you sweat like a pig was getting quite annoying. I also have been really loving these shorter, lob, choppy hairstyles that are popping up all over social media, so I thought it was time to try it out myself. If you remember I also had cold fusion hair extensions in my hair for about three months, and after I had them removed I seriously needed a hair cut. I have yet to have “hair cutting remorse” and highly suggest doing a shorter cut, especially if you are in need of getting rid of dead ends or grown out layers.
I have seen so many people take the plunge and chop off longer locks and now that I have had my hair shorter for the last two months I have to say I really enjoy it. I do have to style it daily and use different products, but it’s made a world of difference in the health of my hair. I am also able to let my hair air dry a lot more often now, wake up, flat iron and go. If you work out daily, you know how gross your hair gets. I have to wash my hair every day and when it was longer it always took awhile to go from wet to dry and then had to be flat ironed or curled to look good and presentable.
For my hair cut I went to Plaza Salon in Paramus, New Jersey. They are located on Route 4 near the Garden State Plaza Mall. I a ton of random layers done when I had fusion hair extensions put in, in order to help them blend with my natural hair. This made my extensions look great, but left me with a ton of shorter layers on the top. The only way to really get my hair to a better place was to tell my hair dresser to chop it to get rid of all the random layers I had. Her suggestion was to do an angled bob style hair cut and she went to work.
Having a shorter hair cut means that you can get ready so much faster. My hair dries now in half the time and it also has a lot more volume. When my hair is longer it feels flat and limp, but since going short it has a lot more movement. I also find that the style feels more chic and modern. I’ve been growing my bangs out for the longest time so the goal is that over time as I get it trimmed it will all be one length and my bangs will finally be all grown out. It takes me a long time to get my bangs grown out so I’m happy that by going shorter it makes the process much easier. My hair is slightly shorter in the back and longer in the front, which makes me able to still put it up in a pony tail when working out and only requires a few bobby pins in the back to get it all off my neck.
Below are a few hair products that I have been using that you may want to try out if you have shorter hair. These are products I have been using before and since getting my hair cut. Let me know if you have any other recommendations and I’d be happy to test them out too!
