What I Take Everyday – Vitamins and Workout Supplements

_mg_9551

Taking my daily vitamins and supplements is part of my morning routine. I do it every single day and get my daily dose in order and put on the counter every night to take the next day. It’s a system that I have stuck to for years now and it makes me never miss taking my vitamins. Many people say they don’t take vitamins daily because they forget, or just don’t remember to take them, but it’s easy to make it a part of your morning activities if you make it a priority. Ever since I have been taking a consistent regiment of vitamins and supplements many things in my health have improved; from digestion, to clearer skin, less inflammation, faster workout recovery and overall wellness. It has been requested quite a few times for me to share what I am currently taking, so as of today this is my day to day routine.

When it comes to my vitamins and supplements I take a pretty hefty dose of pills, chews and gummies. Keep in mind I add and remove some things but there are a few of these that have never left my list of “must have vitamins” – like a probiotic, multivitamin and fish oil (not pictured). Currently I take the following and put them in a pill case to make it easy to take each day:

  • Alive! Women’s daily multivitamin gummies (they recommend 3 but I take 2 because they are a few carbs each and I limit my carbs right now to 50 grams or less per day to follow a ketogenic diet). Most multivitamin pills for me are hard to swallow and can irritate my stomach, but these are delicious and also have fruits and vegetables in them also. I have taken these for over 4 years daily
  • Turmeric: I take a few brands of this but turmeric was added to my routine about 2 years ago. It is a herbal supplement that is natural and helps with inflammation. This is great for workout recovery and muscle soreness as well as inflammation for skin conditions. Many people take turmeric for acne since it is essentially inflamed skin, so I like this for clear skin and to keep overall body inflammation down
  • Tonalin CLA: I have taken this off and on for over 6 years. What is Tonalin CLA? CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) is a naturally occurring fatty acid in dairy and red meat. CLA as a supplement helps to support lean muscle, and when used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise program, can support healthy weight management. CLA can also support reduction of body fat. This is the one item that I find to help reduce overall belly fat or midsection fat over time, it DOES NOT work fast, it takes months to see it working so you have to stay on it for awhile.
  • Hydroplenish: Hyaluronic acid can keep your skin glowing, and it also benefits your joints so I have been taking this for years as a way to put moisture back into my skin and joints. As I have mentioned before I was prescribed Accutane in my 20’s (I should not have been on that super strong drug because I didn’t have cystic acne, only occasional hormonal breakouts, but that’s another story) so ever since then my skin, lips and joints always feel dry. I take this and it has helped to moisturize my skin and plump up any fine lines or wrinkles.
  • B Complex Gummies: b vitamins are great for your hair, especially B6 and B12 which is also good for energy. I take 1 of these gummies per day to help keep my hair healthy and strong because it is pretty damages and breaks easily.
  • Zinc Tablets: (not pictured) I ran out before I could take this image but I take 1 tablet or wafter of zinc per day. I have done a lot of research online for the effects of zinc intake and acne and it seems that having a bit more zinc in my diet helps to keep my skin clear so I take one per day and they have a nice fruit flavor
  • Melatonin Gummies: I don’t take these daily, but if I need a restful night’s sleep, am traveling or just having insomia I take 1-2 gummies and they help me to get a good sleep. I don’t wake up groggy or foggy but well rested. These are 5mg each so no more than 2 for me.
  • True Athlete ZMA: I take 2 capsules an hour before bed to help with sleep, rest and recovery. This also includes magnesium which helps to calm my body and help with overall digestion. It is a great supplement to add during tough, heavier lifting months.

  1. Hi, I’m just starting on my journey of lifting and clean eating. Do you recommend starting out with all of these supplements or easing your way in?

  2. Hi Liz, most of what I take I have been taking for over a few years so it’s not just for those starting out but for long term maintenance for lifting and overall health. I love all of these items
