Nume Titan Review – How to Achieve Beautiful Curls

I am an avid hair curler, if that is even a thing, and when the weather is hot and humid curls just seem to look even better. My hair tends to frizz up and get very full when it is warmer weather so lately I’ve been doing a whole lot of curls in my hair. I usually use a traditional curling iron, clip and all, or sometimes a basic clip-less iron, but my new favorite beauty tool is my Nume Titan 3 in 1 Curling Iron.

For those of you who like soft, falling-out, loose waves this styling tool is perfection. I filmed a review and hair curling tutorial for you all – a departure from my usual fitness workouts videos and meal prep walk throughs in the kitchen. Like most ladies I love to dress up and doll up once in awhile and when I do big, curly, voluminous hair is my thing – so this special delivery from the folks at Nume came at just the right time.

What type of hair I have:

My hair is color treated, frizzy, dry and damaged. It grows in dry, it has always been dry and damaged and I just deal with it. I have longer than shoulder length hair with layers that are still growing out and side swept bangs that are also growing out. They are long and always in my face so curling my hair is a great way to keep them manageable and out of the way. I tend to get oily throughout the day so if my bangs are all on my face they will get oily too – not cute. Curling my bangs away from my face helps to keep them clean and in place which is a huge bonus!

For those who are curious I’ve done every color of brown, highlights and ombre on my hair. Most recently I did have a 4 on top and ombre on bottom but have since been dying over it to get back to a dark base. I use an at home color right now that is semi-permanent until I get a hair cut and fresh dye job at the salon.

Let’s talk a bit about the wand I’m using:

The strong, 100% titanium barrel found in the Titan 3 is the top choice and most widely used styling tool of celebrity stylists and hair professionals world-wide. The pure titanium-infused barrels in 19mm, 25mm, and 32mm, are built for hair that has difficulty holding a curl, imparting the longest-lasting hold possible. For tight curls and waves, a beachy-texture or the perfect bounce – Titan 3 is your premiere choice. Heat-resistant glove included. It comes in black, turquoise and pink and I absolutely love the turquoise it is so bold and beautiful and unique!

How I curl my hair:

Typically when I curl my hair I have little to no product in my hair. Sometimes I will use a bit of leave-in spray conditioner, blow dry my hair and then let it breathe. I won’t flat iron it because I want it to be kind of frizzy to be full and hold the curl. If I put too much product in my hair it won’t hold as long either. After I have blown it out (keep in mind I don’t blow it out to straighten it or make it look nice, I just want to get it all dry to curl it), I will turn the iron all the way up to the highest setting (for the Nume its 200 degrees) and then get ready to attack my mane.

I start with the front of my hair on the one side that I do the deep part and work my way around my head,  in 1 inch sections, and do my bangs along the way and then hit them again at the end. I curl my hair away from my face and hold the hair in place on the wand for 10 seconds. Once I release the curl I scrunch it up to cool and lock in the shape. It takes me at most 10 minutes to do my entire head, sometimes faster. The Nume wands heat up really fast so you don’t have to wait around for it to get hot, it will heat up in seconds!

I like to use the medium and large sizes the most since my personal style preference is soft, loose waves that almost look like they are falling out. For my video I used the medium wand which is perfect for any day to night hair style. Make sure to use the protective glove if you are not used to using a clipless curling iron. It does take practice to not burn yourself – I am a pro now but it did take quite a few neck and forehead burns to learn how to do it with ease. After all of the hair is curled I will use my hands to run through my hair to break up the curls and loosen them up.

Once all the curls are done I will spray my hair with hairspray to keep it all in place. My two favorite hair sprays are One & Only argan oil spray and Coconut Oil hairspray which are both great for shine and a hold that doesn’t feel sticky or too hard. You want your curls to look soft and pretty, not hard and crunchy. Both of these are amazing and smell so good too, I have bought them both multiple times and always recommend them. They keep my hair shiny but not greasy and the curls last for at least 48 hours! That is why sometimes you might see me in the gym doing my workout videos wondering “why is her hair looking all done up” it wasn’t to work out, it was left over curls from the day before most likely.

The Nume hair curling wands are amazing, and I have been wanting one for the longest time. Their team sent me this one complimentary to test out and as always, I will only share products I absolutely love with you guys. I have used this wand every single day since I got it and am hooked. They will be having some amazing deals so make sure to check their site often if you’re looking for a new styling wand.
