Miami Beach Vacation – My Travel Diary

Hi friends as some of you may have seen from my posts on Snapchat and Instagram I was away in beautiful Miami for a few days celebrating my one year wedding anniversary as well as my husbands birthday. We absolutely love Miami Beach – we have visited over five times together and always love going there for getaways. The weather was amazing, though a bit hotter than usual, peaking at around 100 each day and feeling more like 115 in the afternoon sunshine. We stayed at the Fontainebeau Hotel for four nights and I have to say it is my new favorite place to stay when in Miami. We booked our hotel and flight through Expedia and got a great deal for the package!

We spent most of our time during the day at the pool. They have a large pool area with an adult pool that has a live DJ, a general pool with bar nearby, some hot tub or two, a kids area pool and then an area we called “the turf” which just had all lounge chairs to sit and bake all day. If we didn’t get out to the pool by 11 we wouldn’t be able to find chairs. You really have to wake up early to get a good spot or any spot. There is also beach access but we preferred being at the pool all day to dip in to cool off, eat and order drinks. Our friend Matt, pictured here with us on the right, is a personal trainer in Miami. Originally from NJ like us he made the move and never looked back. He works with a variety of clients in Miami and the area to help them achieve their fitness goals, he always inspires us to pick up and move to Miami – hey you never know 🙂

Every morning at the pool I would start the day with an iced Columbian coffee with cream and some stevia, which I pack with me in my purse at all times. It was the best iced coffee I ever had! Some days I would get two because they were so good. There is something about Miami coffee that just tastes better than any other coffee. That was my breakfast everyday. When it’s so hot out I don’t seem to eat much and breakfast always felt too heavy so we would skip breakfast and then order food for lunch. I like to eat light when traveling, at least during the day, and then enjoy nice dinners which we did. Miami has amazing places to eat and have cocktails.

For lunch we would always get fresh salads either brought to our chairs or we also tried the Mediterranean grill cafe on site which had amazing food! Paired with some white wine I was in heaven. On my trip I did enjoy my fair share of adult beverages but I avoided any super sugary ones that you can sometimes get in Miami. I mostly had lemon drop martinis, an occasional glass of Riesling or vodka with club soda and a splash of pineapple. We also walked a lot which was great for exercise and to just be active during the day time while shopping or going around town near placed like Lincoln Road which we went to for some Sushi Samba lunch and shopping at Zara.

I didn’t work out all that much on my trip. I visited the gym two times because to be honest I was so tired and wanted to just always be outdoors. The gym at the hotel was awesome though and I did mostly circuit workouts to just stay in shape. I didn’t want to spend too much time indoors. I think it’s important to not fall off the wagon but also enjoy yourself too. The facility was great and had everything I needed, but to be honest I wasn’t as interested in working out as I was to get outdoors and feel the sun on my skin.

The dress in the left photo is from Bebe, shoes from Steve Madden and clutch is Louis Vuitton. This dress I found on my trip to San Diego last year at a Bebe store. Another great place we visited for drinks and food while on our trip was Sea Spice and a few other nearby spots. I love that in Miami a lot of places for food and cocktails are outdoors by the water. The breeze and weather was perfect!

A few of you asked about this outfit which is actually a one piece romper! It is black with lace details on the hem of the shorts and the neckline. It zips up the back and was so comfortable especially in warm weather. In Miami I always pick outfits that are breathable and good in hot, humid weather!

For dinners we went to: Prime 112, Strip Steak inside the Fontaine Bleau, Sushi Samba on Lincoln Road, Sea Spice
