Get Your Body Ready For The Beach

Summer is on its way (apparently) and we can’t wait to get on the beach. When the sun is shining, it feels great to strip down to our bikinis and feel the warmth on our (protected) skin. But the first time out there after a long winter can be a bit nerve-wracking. You might be feeling a bit pale and pasty from being covered up for months. And you might be worried you’re not quite trim enough to don that tiny bikini just yet. Don’t panic. We have some great ideas to help you feel body confident and body beautiful for a great summer on the beach:

Skin

Skin does tend to dry out a bit over the winter months. And it may be extra sensitive after all that chaffing from winter woollies. Now’s the perfect time to invest in a good body buffer brush and some body scrub. Slough away the dead skin cells to reveal the true beauty of you underneath. It will also increase the circulation to help your fresh skin cells glow. Add a good body moisturizer to your skin every morning and night to help nourish your skin.

Legs

Getting your legs out for the first time in ages can feel a bit strange. Now the skin is looking refreshed, you can get to work on removing any fuzz and fluff! Shaving can leave your skin a little dry and can make you sore after a while. Start the season with a professional full-leg wax to remove everything and soften the skin. You can then choose to epilate, cream or shave through the summer to keep your legs smooth and silky.

Feet

Sandals and bare feet are an essential part of summer. If you’ve been in boots all winter, chances are your poor feet have been a little neglected. Start the season on the right foot (sorry), and see a good chiropodist. They can tidy up any problem areas, and check that your feet are in good health ready for the beach. Treat yourself to a good pedicure and make your feet look and feel beautiful.

Arms

Your arms will be the most exposed area of your body during the summer months. Shoulders can be particularly vulnerable. Give them some extra TLC when it comes to moisturizing. And be sure they are fully protected with a good UV cream. Your underarms will be seen a lot too, so have a think about how you want to tackle this area. Like the legs, you may want to start with a wax. You might also fancy changing your antiperspirant to avoid unsightly white marks.

Tummy

We all love having a flat tummy, but if you want a truly defined ab pack, you can try a few simple exercises to tighten and tone. Try to fit them in every day for maximum effectiveness. As your core strengthens you may find it easier to improve your stamina for other activities too. All-round fitness is best when you’re trying to sculpt your whole body.

We all love summer. Make yours safe with a good sunscreen and plenty of water. Enjoy.

  1. Speaking of body buffer brush, do you dry brush? I started before my shoulder surgery and OMGoodness does that make the skin so soft and vibrant! I did it every other day just before I showered and it felt great. I still do it about once a week right now but with lack of ROM it’s hard to get to several spots. Also, I would have never thought to wax the armpits until I realized I most likely wouldn’t be able to shave for 6 weeks so you know what I did. It hurt like heck but it’s been a Godsend. Thanks again for the time you take to write. I’ve been digging into your recipes and can’t wait to try some new meals. My husband will be surprised- pleasantly so I hope!
