Fitness 101: The Things To Consider Before Starting Your Fitness Journey

Are you fed up of feeling tired and lethargic? Do you wish to have more energy? Do you want to feel good on the inside and out? If you have answered yes to any of these questions then maybe it is time for you to begin your fitness journey.  Taking exercise can do many things for your health and well being. But it’s part of a long-term journey and should never be seen as a short-term fix.

But there are a couple of things that you need to consider before you jump right in at the deep end.

Here’s a great article about why women should lift weights

Your current health situation

How are you at the moment? Are you struggling with anything? It’s vital that you are capable of taking the exercise you have planned. If you have any concerns about your health, then it would be recommended to speak to your family doctor. You must be physically able to do the exercises you are planning otherwise you may cause any injuries or illness to get worse.

Equipment and Clothing

So you can do the exercise, what next? It’s worth considering the type of equipment you need, if any, and clothing. If your desire is to bulk up muscle then investing in the correct weights would be a place to start. If you are beginning to run then a good pair of trainers is a must. One of the main things all exercise regimes have in common is active wear. Things like exercise leggings, vests and sweat tops.

Diet

The next thing to look at is your diet. I don’t necessarily mean a diet you would perhaps go on to lose a few pounds. This is more about making sure your body is getting what it needs to refuel from the exercise you have been taking. If you are building up muscle, then an increase in protein would be recommended. Running would mean replenishing your body with energy already used up so good carbohydrates and hydration. Look at the exercise you are doing and research what your body needs to keep on doing it regularly.

Your life routine

You have checked your body out; you have all the right gear, and you know what your body needs. The next thing to consider is your current life situation. You need to figure out when you can take the exercise. If exercising is going to get in the way of your current life commitments, then the chances are you won’t keep it up. However, if you are looking for a

lifestyle change then now is the time to shake things up a little and start as you mean to go on.

What’s your goal?

Finally, what is it you want to achieve? Do you hope to be able to run marathons? Or is it something a little less extreme and just being able to get up in the morning with some energy and a zest for life? Whatever it may be, have that goal, set it, and work towards it. Nothing happens to the people that just sit back and wait. You have to work for it, but it’s much easier knowing what you are working towards.

You are now ready to begin your fitness journey; I hope you achieve exactly what you set your mind to.
