Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Shake Recipe

I have become a big fan of using natural protein powders that are free of artificial sweeteners and other fillers, and I have to say that the NutriWhey by Nutriforce Sports makes a natural protein powder in flavors that I think most would enjoy. I like the NutriWhey Belgian Chocolate protein powder, it actually has tiny chunks of chocolate bits in it which is tasty at the bottom of your protein shake. I use this with some organic skim milk or unsweetened almond milk, a few dashes of organic cinnamon powder and a new powdered peanut butter I got my hands on by Sweet Spreads.  To mix this shake I use either my Breville blender or my NutriBullet – both work really well.

I like to use 1 full scoop of the NutriWhey Belgian Chocolate Protein powder, 1/2 cup of almond milk or organic skim milk, handful of ice and 2 tbsp of the PB & Sweet powdered peanut butter and finish with a few dashes of cinnamon. I combine those all into the blender and mix it up for a minute. The mixture will come out a bit thick and foamy like a milkshake which I love!

Keep in mind to always read the ingredients and information on your bottles – some powdered peanut butters are not all natural and are filled with not so good for you ingredients. I liked this brand but I also really like the Just Great Stuff powdered peanut butter as well. A lot of people also like PB2, but I have not had much experience using their powders just yet to give my opinion.

The Sweet Spreads PB is gluten free and all natural. It’s great if you like the taste of peanut butter but perhaps you already hit your “fat” macros for the day. It has 85% less fat than regular peanut butter, so I like to use this in shakes or baking as it gives the same taste but without the fat. I like to eat my peanut butter so this is a great substitute to have in my healthy pantry.

I had to include this photo of my dog Lola who just loves to snick and smell things that I make and was licking her lips. Of course because this is chocolate she got no taste of this at all, but it was a cute photo none the less to include.

I like to use a cold, glass mug like this to keep my shake cold – though I try to drink my shake in one sitting, otherwise I never wind up finishing it. These I found at Marshall’s or Home Goods. The glass mugs or mason jars are always good to keep my protein shakes nice and cold.
