ddeHappy Holidays from me & Lola!

Hi everyone, I hope that you all had an amazing holiday this past week enjoying some great food, quality time with family and friends and maybe some much needed rest. I know that for me the last two weeks have been hectic with making sure that I checked my list twice and got everyone that I wanted to buy gifts for. From last minute running around, to some lose ends at work and just overall last minute stuff – it can get crazy pretty fast. Since this holiday my mom has been very sick with cancer (I’ve posted about her battle with lung cancer a month or so ago) the holidays have an even more important meaning this time around. It’s important to focus on what the holidays are meant to be and not so much about what we’ve become used to them being. Sure it’s nice to give and receive gifts, but one gift that can’t be bought or exchanged is health. Sometimes we don’t take our health seriously enough until it is a bit too late, or we get a scare that sends up quickly changing our lifestyle. It’s important that we all start to really take care of ourselves and make sure to also enjoy time with loved ones too.

I think the biggest thing I need to work on for myself in 2015 is having a better life balance. I am always on the go, always working, always busy, running around and never standing still. In the dizziness of that sometimes you don’t have time to enjoy little things and those are what I want to do more of in the new year. I don’t have any real “New Year’s Resolutions” but I do want this year to be an amazing one. I am getting married in 2015, so many friends have had new babies which I will enjoy watching grow in the new year, I’m hoping and praying my mom makes a great turn around with her cancer in the next 365 days and I hope to continue to be able to reach people with my blog.

When it comes to the holiday season people always beat themselves up over “cheating” on their working out or their diet. I think that when we become too restrictive in life that is when the downward spiral happens. I believe that the best thing you can do is work on having a healthy relationship with food and your own body image. So much of what we do with our body is a result of emotions and stress. If you can learn to manage your emotions and your stress you will stop using it as a weapon against yourself. When I look back at the times I either didn’t feel my best physically or look my best, it was always a time in my life that I was either stressed, upset or just not in a good place mentally. Now that my mind is clear and I feel much more content and centered in my life is when I don’t use food or body image as a medication. Make sure that in the new year you tackle your feelings about your health and fitness as a challenge, as a goal, not as a prison sentence.

Remember everyone has to start somewhere. Even if at first it seems like “what’s the point” or “I’ll never get to where I want to be” throw those ideas out the window. You truly can as long as you dedicate it to yourself, and you owe that to yourself. You get one body, one life and it’s so important to treat it well and with respect. I hope you all had an amazing holiday and are ready for the new year. I plan to post a lot of fun workouts, tips and exercise to do as well as healthy recipe ideas and product reviews.

  1. I find this blog very inspiring. I do have a question though, with your hectic life and everything that you do, how do you balance everything? It seems like so much, yet you manage to do it all.

  2. I think alot of it has to do with my personality. As an Aries i have a very bad personality trait that causes me to be involved in more than I should lol. I am always on the go, between work and life and my blog and fitness and family. I try to make sure that at the end of eveyrday to just unwind for an hour on the couch and rest. before i go to be, just to watch tv or read a book or drink a glass of wine 🙂
