Today’s Healthy Haul: What i bought this week in vitamins, supplements and snacks!

Another healthy haul – vitamins, supplements & MORE!

It’s no secret that I spend a lot of money on my health and that of my family. I am a big advocate of living the best possible, healthy life that I can – more so now than ever with having seen just how important it is to do what i can to remain healthy. My mom, who is battling cancer, is a constant reminder that while we can’t control all the outcomes of our body…it is crucial to do what i can to keep my in top shape both inside and outside. I probably spend over $2,000 a year at the vitamin store on everything from natural beauty products, to protein bars and protein powder, to healthy snacks and my daily vitamins and supplements. Today I stopped by my local store and got a few items:

→ Omega 3 Fish Oil

→ Ostrim sports nutrition meat stick snacks – click here

→ Power Crunch Bars in Vanilla (for my fiance, he loves these!) – click here

→ Quest Protein bars in double chocolate chunk (for me) – click here

→ Derma E Exfoliating Scrub (been using this a lot lately for my face) – click here

→ Zinc lozenges – click here

Having healthy snacks with me at all times is key to stay on track. I always have at least two protein bars in my purse at all times for those moments where hunger strikes but I don’t want to stop and get fast food or garbage snacks at a convenience store. That’s why for me I like the Quest bars (high in protein and high in fiber) and the Ostrim snacks are a good option for some protein with low calories but not as much sodium as a Slim Jim. My fiance loves the Power Crunch Energy Bars because he says they taste like vanilla wafers. So we pop those in the fridge for him as a sweet tooth stopper or quick snack. I also have been really loving how my skin feels since using the Derma E Exfoliating Scrub. I used to always use the peach and willowbark scrub by Burt’s Bees, but after trying the one by Derma E I noticed just how much softer the exfoliating beads were in the Derma E scrub. After trying it out for a month and then trying out the Burt’s Bees again I felt a complete difference in how gentle one was vs. the other – so  I have made the switch and will continue to use this face scrub for awhile. It’s also cruelty free and natural, which has been a big factor to me in my beauty purchases this year.

Zinc is something I added to my routine the past year. I read on many forums that increasing my zinc would help with clear skin. After years of battling with oily skin, then finally having it calm down after taking Accutane,  i wanted to make sure that i continued to have a good amount of zinc in my diet and supplement routine. I like the Nature’s Way Zinc lozenges because to me they go down easy and taste good. Many people have said that it helps with breakouts, i can’t confirm that but i rarely get breakouts anymore when i made the switch to natural beauty products, less harsh skin care items and also having a very good vitamin and supplement regiment. The fish oil has also been something i have added in this year as an overall good-for-you pill. there is a lot of great research behind the benefits of fish oil and this one in particular does not give me any kind of fish burps or after taste (which many have in the past).
