Cruelty Free Makeup Brushes by Crown Brush – Review

Recently I have been on the hunt for new makeup brushes but trying to find quality ones that are cruelty free (meaning no animal hair is used/synthetic brushes). It has been a bit difficult to find new ones, but there are some out there if you look. This was a new brand I had never heard of before but saw them as a daily deal on www.HauteLook.com – who usually has some good makeup and beauty items on sale. After looking at their offerings on the site, and noticing the great prices, I decided to buy a bunch of single brushes and hope for the best. I will show you what they look like individually below, but I was able to get all these brushes plus a small travel set for I believe $60 with shipping included. All of the brushes are great quality and perfect additions to my growing tool kit of brushes.

Makeup Brushes I purchased:

Large Kabuki Brush – this one is super soft and great for bronzers or also for overall face setting powder. I really love to use this with my Tarte Cosmetics full coverage Amazonian clay powder. It grabs the powder and allows for a nice, even finish while being super soft on the skin.

Flat Bronzer Brush – this can also be used for any type of loose powder. This reminds me of my flat brush by MAC cosmetics and it is a great dupe for it. The brush is soft and perfect for all over powder or for bronzer and definition.

Another Flat Bronzer Brush – This is a smaller handle and very easy to use. Sometimes I prefer shorter handles and this one is great for more buffing since it is a bit sturdier than the one above.

Two eye shadow brushes: #C456 & #C455 – I rarely find a flat brush like this for my eye shadow but this is great for base colors all over the lid. Again, the brush is super soft and helps to blend and move the powder onto the lid nicely. The other one is a little larger than a typical blender brush but it is great for quick swipes over the crease area.

As you can see compared to other eye shadow brushes these are quite big. You can probably wind up using them for concealer or contour as well if you have more than your fair share of eye shadow brushes.

Basic Foundation Brush: not sure I love this one, only because I find that I don’t really like flat style foundation brushes. It is not a flaw of Crown Brush, but more my preferences lately. I like more of a flat brush to blend my foundation and move it around freely. These I feel are more like a paint brush and just don’t blend my makeup as well.

Crown Brush Makeup Remover Spray: I was in need of this and got it for a great price with the sale going on. I prefer to pour this into a bowl and not use it as a spray.

Directions: Pour a small amount of cleaner into a small container. Dip the brush into the solution and wipe off on a clean tissue. Repeat until entire brush has been cleaned.
Do not over saturate the brush because it will take longer to dry.

Ingredients: sodium laureth sulphate, polysorbate-20, isopropanal, deionized water, d’limonene, isopropyl myristate, propylene glycol, coco betaine, benzophenone-4 fragranc

Overall I have to say I am very happy I caught this deal when I did. I really like the style and durability of these brushes and that they are cruelty free, unlike most of Sigma and all of MACs brushes. If you happen to see this on a daily deals site I suggest you take advantage.
