Top 10 Hair Care Products & Tools List – July Edition

Top 10 Hair Care Products & Tools – July Edition

1307_bb_hp2

In July us ladies have a mixed bag of hair care concerns: from frizzy tresses due to humidity to hair color that fades due to the sun. Every season I change up my hair routine to combat these concerns and decided to put together a “Top 10” list of my current favorite tips, tools and tricks. These are all items that I have bought myself, not provided by sponsors or companies, and use daily or weekly. I find myself trying to use heat less in the summer time to help prevent some breakage and damage, but when I do have to go our or “do my hair” these are my absolute must-haves. I hope you enjoy!

I will make sure to link you to where you can purchase all of these items online as well so that if you are in the need for any of these you can click and go to the page. I will do an updated list when the weather begins to get a bit cooler out so you can see what I recommend for fall/cooler seasons.

TOP TEN LIST TIME:

1. Fredderic Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Cream: Buy here: Frederic Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Cream Hair Products 4 Oz

Why I love this: After washing my hair I put the tiniest drop of this in my palms and warm it up and place on the middle of the hair shaft and down to the ends. When the hair is wet I run a wide tooth comb through it with this product to get it spread throughout the hair. This product helps to keep my hair so moisturized in the summer time without feeling sticky or weighed down. I think a little goes a long way so use less than you think you need.

2. L’Oreal Triple Resist Ultimate Strength Solution – Buy here: L’Oreal Triple Resist Ultimate Strength Solution 5.1 FL OZ

I am a big fan of the new L’Oreal shampoos and conditioners and was using the Total Repair 5 during the spring time, but in the summer I switched over to the Triple Resist line for preventing breakage and damage. I found that after months of blow drying and hot tools my hair needed some TLC. It was breaking all the time and now I use this after I have rinsed out conditioner as a leave-in treatment. You use 5-8 sprays of it and just leave on the hair.

I work out almost everyday and the one thing I hate is getting my hair in my face or on my neck when I am working out and getting sweaty. I have tried to just use bobby pins and clips but the hair always winds up getting gross and wet so now I always use these headbands to keep my baby hairs out of the way. I have tried a few and some just roll back on my head and don’t stay put, so always look for the ones that have the clear, sticky looking strips underneath that help to keep the bands in place. I usually buy the pack with the dark or neutral colors.

4. One & Only Argan Oil Mask – Buy here: One ‘n Only Argan Oil Hydrating Mask 8 oz.

I really love this product line and have a few items from it already but the mask is surely one I use at least once a week in the summer months. It is a nice thick texture and I usually put it all over my hair and leave it on either for a few hours while I am doing things around the house or reading a book and then rinse out with cold water. I have tried to leave it on and sleep with it over night but my pillow cases would probably get ruined so a few hours every week or two is good instead. It leaves your hair so soft and not weighed down and is only $10 or so, compared to some others that are triple that price.

5. Proliss Clipless Curling Iron – Buy Here: KOR 25mm (1″) Ceramic Tourmaline Clipless Curling Iron / Wand / Rod

If you love doing soft, beachy waves to counteract frizzy hair days (which I do often) this is the wand I use. I love that it gets very hot and you only need it on your hair for maybe 8 seconds and it holds the curl. I just use the glove that it comes with and wrap my hair around it and leave it tossled and messy. There is no better way to let your hair be wild than curling it a bit as well. I got mine on Groupon a few months back but it is not as expensive as it used to be. It’s a great investment especially if you love doing curly hair styles.

6. One and Only Hairspray with Argan Oil: Buy here – One ‘n Only Argan Oil Hair Spray

I absolutely love everything about this hair spray except that if you want a strong, stiff hold this is not the spray for you. This leaves your hair soft and moving without that helmet head look. It has the best smell also and just feels so light and lovely on your hair. I like that it has argan oil in it so it isn’t frying your hair like some do with all the chemicals. It’s great for a nice finish on curls or a soft bun/updo.

7. Bun Maker: Buy here: Conair Bun Maker Set

Nothing says “It’s too hot and I’m too lazy” like a gorgeous bun 🙂 I honestly do these so often because I love the ease of use and how great they look in minutes. I do buns a lot in the summer because I can half blow dry my hair, or let it air dry, then do this in the morning and not have to worry about my hair for the rest of the day. I love buns and think anyone can pull them off beautifully and effortlessly.

8. John Frieda Moisture Barrier Hair Spray: Buy here – John Frieda Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm, Hold Hair Spray, 12 oz

When I know that it’s going to be super humid I reach for this hair spray. I bought it for the first time as a travel size in Miami (always so humid there) and fell in love with it. It helps to combat the humidity that causes frizz and I feel like it helps keep hair in place very well.

9. Victoria Secret So Sexy Volumizing Mousse: Buy here – Victoria Secret So Sexy Style Body & Hold Volumizing Mousse

I wrote about this in a previous blog post, but I really love this volumizing mousse by Victoria Secret. It goes on smooth and feels wet in the hair. It doesn’t dry out my hair like a lot of other volumizing mouses do. It also feels light weight as it dries and great for days you want to just do a blow out fast a tossled/messy look. It also smells great too!

10. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil – Buy here: Vitamin Shoppe – Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, 15 oz solid

If you’ve never tried coconut oil in general – you should! I use it for cooking, skin care, make up removal and also as a hair mask. Just use a small amount all over the ends of your hair and then put up in a bun for the night (to keep the hair tucked in and off your pillow case). Rinse it out with shampoo in the AM and your hair will feel amazing. I love coconut oil and really think you can get so many uses out of it.
